Backstory: Long ago, in an era lost to the mists of time, there was a magic spear. It had once belonged to a mighty hero who ended the reign of the terrible sorcerer kings and locked them all underground, using the spear itself as a key. Her descendants became guardians of the spear, who built up a whole temple around it to make sure no one ever stole it.

That was all well and good until the Empire came. The Emperor respected nothing but power, so he sacked the temple and took the spear. Not long after, a mighty catacylsm shattered the land for hundreds of miles, rending it with massive chasms that split the kingdoms of Zanclea into a bunch of semi isolated islands. Even worse, the ancient sorcerer kings started awakening from their subterranean prisons and spreading their influence across the world. It is a time of monsters and evil, but also a time where a mighty warrior can step up and become a legend.

Aleixi was an acolyte of the temple, training to be the spear's guardian. She had been out hunting when the Empire came, but quickly returned after the cataclysm to find her home trapped in a bubble of frozen time and hovering over a sea churning in an endless maelstrom. She asked the survivors and pieced together what happened and then decided she was going to kill the Emperor and get the spear back home.

This will be no easy task. The Empire is far away, the Emperor is well guarded. He carries the spear that banished the sorcerer kings and may have gathered further magics that Aleixi has no idea of. On top of that, the land of Zanclea has been shattered and driven into chaos, further corrupted by the presence of the Imperial occupation forces and the aforementioned sorcerer kings, each of them twisted into a bloated, monstrous form. The sorcerer kings are still too weak from their long slumber to return to the surface and start conquering shit, but they gather cults of ambitious humans to their causes in exchange for trinkets and paltry magics.

But none of them properly understood the danger of going up against a pissed off barbarian temple guardian.

TL;DR: Mighty hero Aleixi goes on a one woman crusade against an oppressive empire in a quest to reclaim a magic spear. Flavors of Hyperborea and Conan the Barbarian

Skills

• Barbarian: Aleixi doesn't really have "powers", per se. She spits on those who would resort to foul magic. But she's unreasonably fast and tough and strong for an ostensibly normal human due to a lifetime of just being really hardcore and awesome.
  
• Literate: In most other settings, this wouldn't be worthy of note, but Zanclea is a primitive land by our standards. Aleixi learned to read because she was raised by the temple, which gives her a leg up on most of her illiterate barbarian peers when exploring ancient ruins.
  
• Hunter: Aleixi is skilled in tracking, stealth, climbing, archery, and fighting. Her weapons of choice is either a spear or her bare hands, but she has at least a passing proficiency with most common weapons.

First Impressions

• Appearance: 5'8, brawny build, deeply tanned skin with numerous scars from past battles. Tends towards the Frank Frazetta school of fashion, which mainly consists of loincloths and jewlry. There's a lot of bare skin
  
• Vibes: Aleixi is straightforwards and direct in her methods and goals. She approaches problems with a no nonsense practical attitude. She is violent and aggressive, but not cruel or mean spirited, and is perfectly willing to be diplomatic and kind when she feels like someone warrants it.
  
• Interests: Hunting, testing herself in battle, protecting her home, protecting the innocent, reading
  
• Sensitive topics: Deception and misdirection, cruelty to the weak, magic, the trappings of civilization when they don't make sense.

Permissions

• Shipping: Aleixi's philosophy on romance is "easy come easy go". She will fall in love with people easily, but won't stay around for long even if she does. If you explained modern definitions of sexual orientation, she would describe herself as pansexual.
